Shaping the Future with Sustainable Power
Hybrid Solar System
Overview
On-Grid Solar Hybrid System
A solar hybrid solar system is similar to grid-tie and combines solar panels, batteries, grid power (and may be generator also) to optimize your energy use and savings. In hybrid system, solar panels remain connected to the grid and have a backup battery system to store excess power. The sun’s energy goes through an inverter to create usable electricity either directly to home for use, to battery, or to the grid. The benefit of a hybrid solar system is that you will always have power in any situation.
With a backup batteries, the excess energy that panels generate (but is not used), will get stored in battery. When sun is not shining, this battery will provide power during night, blackouts, or during inclement weather. With a hybrid solar system, if you were to use up all the power in your battery during night or outage, you have the ability to draw power from the electrical grid. Batteries can provide power to your home when panels are not producing energy. After all of these, if there is still leftover energy, that energy is exported to grid.
Generate electricity using solar and store so that you save on your electricity bill and never experience a power outage. You choose to use the most optimal energy source."
Advantages
- Continuous, selective power supply.
- Efficient and High Load management.
- Less expensive than full off-grid solution.
Key Components of Hybrid Solar System
Hybrid solar systems use similar equipment to a grid-tied RTS system and additionally include the batteries.
- Standard solar equipment like PV panels, mounting structures and connectors.
- Solar batteries : Deep cycle C10 Lead Acid batteries OR Lithium-ion (LFP).
- Hybrid Solar Inverter : Advanced compared to normal grid-tie string inverters.
- Charge controller : Prevents battery from overcharging.
- DC disconnects : Switch between the battery and the inverter.
- Bidirectional meters : additional electric meters to track energy generation, usage and export to grid.
When to go Hybrid?
Though expensive, there are scenarios where a hybrid system may make the most sense for you, especially if you experience regular grid power outages. If you really value energy independence and maximizing the amount of renewable energy your home use, then an on-grid solar PLUS battery storage system could be just what you’re looking for.
